What's happening??????
Third-Fourth Reading- students are finished reading the BFG by Roald Dahl. They created personal vocabulary books, used dictionaries and wrote chapter summaries. They are also creating electronic autobiographies as they learn to use Inspiration, MS PowerPoint, digital cameras and the scanner.
The next few weeks we will use the Junior Greatbook series collection of short stories. Focus is on reading comprehension and the Shared Inquiry process.
Fifth-Sixth Reading/Writing-students in 6th grade have completed The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. Fifth  grade students are finished reading Ben & Me by Robert Lawson. The two novels compliment their respective Social Studies curriculum. Both classes wrap things up by creating a  Jeopardy Game based on their book and a research project related to something they found interesting in the novels.
Our first writing piece was a Personal Narrative. These will be taken through the editing process and used to create digital stories. Our digital versions are in progress.
Third Math - students are working on memorizing their times tables through the twelves in order to help with multiplying and dividing larger numbers. Goal is to be able to beat Ms. Castiglione in the game of around the world.
Fourth Math-working with decimals and high & low estimates. Also, problem-solving methods and procedures.
Fifth Math- students are learning to convert various units of  metric measurement,
Sixth Math- students are  finishing with various geometric puzzles, problems and formulas.

All math students will again participate in the
World Math Day 2010 Challenge!
